The new year is off to a fast start here at Chord!

To kick off the year, we are announcing the official release of embedded checkout for our Chord Autonomy tenants! Please read on for additional information on embedded checkout and how this can improve your site's shopping experience for customers this year. We're excited to introduce embedded checkout alongside the shortlist of notable feature improvements, data improvements, and bug fixes from January 2024.

New Feature Spotlight:

  • Embedded Checkout

    • The Chord team is excited to announce the availability of embedded checkout for our Autonomy customers!

    • Embedded checkout is an opt-in feature for Chord Autonomy customers. That is, Autonomy tenants will need to configure the following to take advantage of this new feature, as outlined in our documentation:

      • Change the store setting in the Chord OMS, and

      • Change the code on the front-end site to enable this embedded checkout view.

    • Embedded checkout is an online purchasing process that is seamlessly integrated within your store, allowing your customers to complete their transactions without being redirected to an external platform or payment gateway. Ultimately, embedded checkouts offer a more cohesive shopping experience on behalf of customers as it eliminates an additional purchasing checkout step.

    • Operator documentation on how to take advantage of this feature can be found here.

Feature improvements:

  • Promotions

    • We made improvements to our discount API following an issue where deleting a promotion tied to a particular product would not update accurately on the site (i.e. the discount would still be displayed). Now when a promotion tied to a specific product is deleted, that promotion will not display on the site.

  • Subscriptions

    • Added a list of subscription reminders that have been sent to the recipient. Prior to this update, we have always shown upcoming reminders. Now the Chord OMS will display a historical list of reminders that have been sent as well.

    • We introduced a cap on how many subscription assortment line items can be set for a given assortment. The maximum quantity for any assortment is now 10.

Data (Looker) updates:

  • Autonomy Multi-tenant improvements:

    • Gift/Prepay Subscription: There are now flags to identify if an order is a pre-pay purchase or a pre-pay redemption which will enable customers to reflect revenue reporting accurately. Some of the key identifier flags are outlined below.

      • Orders:

        • is_pre_paid_purchase

        • is_pre_paid_redemption

        • pre_paid_purchase_total

        • pre_paid_redemption_total

      • Subscriptions:

        • pre_paid_subscription_id

        • oms_pre_paid_subscription_id

        • is_gift

        • is_recurring

        • is_auto_redeemed

    • Surfaced additional order metric for reimbursement_credit_total

  • Performance Multi-tenant improvements:

    • Updated logic for considering a ‘new customer’ as one who is on their first created order that has not been canceled. This enables users to better understand their customers coming in the door and not hold counting them until the order is fulfilled.

    • Product Recommendations available to users with Predictive Features available.

    • Dashboard improvements - default filter to exclude line items with null variant prices.

    • Dashboard improvements to use Order Created At: This allows for more consistent report comparison with Shopify as an order is not completed until Fulfilled.

    • Recharge Subscription fields surfaced in the Subscriptions Explore.

Bug fixes:

  • We fixed a bug that was blocking subscription reminders from being sent from Chord OMS.

  • We fixed a bug affecting no-cost orders with only virtual items being completed.
